Marley Spoon!

Marley Spoon delivers fresh ingredients with easy to follow step-by-step recipes so you can keep your cooking skills up.

Each week, there are 27 meals to choose from with most taking between 20-40 minutes to prepare. The recipes use seasonal ingredients from local Australian providers, and are pre-portioned to minimise food wastage. Calorie and Macro-nutrient information is provided per portion. Marley Spoon offers the ability to select from the following options: vegetarian, vegan, family friendly, meat, fish and gluten free. It is subscription based with the ability to pause or cancel at any time. Minimum meal size serves two people starting at around $11 per portion. If you’re cooking for one be sure to put your second serve away for the next day or next meal...don’t be tempted to over consume!

Summary: Marley Spoon is an excellent option to control calorie intake particularly for those who enjoy and have time for cooking meals.

YouFoodz offers prepared meals & snacks along with fruit and veg boxes and other essential groceries delivered to your doorstep.

There is an extensive range of meals to choose from most of which are pretty flavoursome. Either order one off with no strings attached or set up a subscription. YouFoodz meals last for 7 to 9 days in the fridge on average, and can be frozen for up to 3 months. If you are after low calorie options, lower than 350 calories per meal then the YouFoodz options are limited. The meal sizes are quite small and we recommend cooking up some additional veg at the start of the week to throw in with each meal. YouFoodz extensively uses preservatives such as additives, thickeners and stabilisers. Each meal is reasonably priced, they have regular sales and specials and delivery is included.

Summary: YouFoodz is a convenient home-delivery option for pre-made affordable meals with no forced subscription. If you are looking for low calorie options, large meal sizes or concerned about the use of preservatives they are not for you.

Workout Meals!

Workout Meals offer ready made meals conveniently home delivered.

Options to select meal plans or individual meals on a one off or subscription basis are available. There are 50 meal options in 3 different sizes with vegan options available. The meals are created by qualified chefs and can be stored for up to 7 days when refrigerated. Calorie and macro-nutrient information is available or each meal and there are several low calorie options under 350 calories. Workout meals do not use any preservatives and there are far less sauces yet they still taste pretty good. Delivery is $15.

Summary: Workout Meals is our favourite pre packaged option, while it is slightly more expensive than YouFoodz, the sizing and calorie options are more extensive and there are no preservatives used.
